Schedule on off months
June, July, and August are the busiest times of the year for most lab manufacturers. That’s because it’s the best time for bigger school and university laboratories to get in their renovations and new installations while all the students are off for the summer. If you can, work to schedule your project for an off-month, when manufacturers will have less pressing projects and can devote more time to ensuring your project is designed and installed on time.
Plan far ahead
The best way to get your lab in the time frame that you need it is to plan as far ahead as possible. As soon as you get the go-ahead on the budget for the project, it’s a good idea to start planning. The more you know about what your new lab or lab renovation will need, the easier it will be to determine how long it will take to install. Additionally, the farther you plan ahead, the less worry there will be about something breaking before you have the chance to fix it. While there are certainly projects out there that take a bit more time and allow for clients to slowly make up their minds on certain materials or appliances, if you’re looking to have your laboratory delivered quickly, know exactly what you need. There won’t be much time wasted going back and forth with design considerations, and they’ll be able to build the project in much less time as well. When speed is what counts, choose someone who knows exactly what you need.
Don’t settle for long lead times
Finally, we think it’s important to let all lab managers and professionals know that you shouldn’t have to settle for long lead times. There are certainly a number of manufacturers out there who will predict 20 weeks to installation, and we know you don’t have that much time. Know that if you do a bit of shopping around, you’re likely to find someone who can offer you the same quality materials and design, for a more reasonable lead time—somewhere between 6-12 weeks isn’t unreasonable.
